DescriptionAlmendricos is a small Spanish village situated in the South of Murcia, close to the border with Andalucía. Those who seek real Spanish ambiance will surely be at the right place here. This “cortijo” (or “the farmhouse”) is situated app. 3 km away from Almendricos. It was built in the 19th century and completely restored to its old style in 2006. Almendricos lies in a valley protected on both sides by a small mountain ridge. The valley has excellent fertile soil, just like the whole South of Murcia. Not surprisingly, you’ll find here enormous plantations of citrus fruits, especially oranges. Furthermore, there are countless almond orchards and extended fields of artichoke, lettuce, broccoli and onion. The mountains offer a wide variety of wild herbs and flowering plants all year round. The fauna is extremely diverse and bird lovers will be happy to find here huge populations of rare species. Besides birds, one can spot in the mountains (among other places) fox, hare and tortoise.

There is also an outdoor discotheque (open every Wednesday night in the summer season only), a fun place to be for the old and the young. Beaches are situated within an hour drive from Casa Oasis. It is the beach and seaside boulevard of San Juan that is considered especially beautiful. San Juan has not been flooded yet by mass tourism and one can still prove here authentic Spanish ambiance. The beach has a gradual descent into the sea and thus is utmost suitable for children. An absolute must is a train journey from Almendricos to the beaches of Aguilas. If you prefer nature to swimming pools, go on an amazing tour by race bike or mountain bike to the wildlife resorts of La Jara (10 km), Sierra Espuña (40 km) or Sierra de Maria (35 km). The last one has three unique caves accessible to visitors. You can also try carefully charted hiking routes in the beautiful scenery of these nature resorts. This region has also facilities for mountain climbing, sailing, parasailing, quad riding and horseback riding. Last but not least, a fan of historical buildings, shops or museums will come into one’s own on a visit to Lorca, Alhama, Murcia or a smaller place, such as, for example, the mountain village of Mojacar. |
